Overview

The Sciener Smart Lock is the heart of our access control ecosystem. It replaces a single metal key with five ways to enter — fingerprint, passcode, IC card, smartphone app, and mechanical key — while logging every entry and supporting remote management when paired with a Gateway.

Whether you are securing a single front door, a hundred hotel rooms, or a block of apartments, the same lock scales from standalone operation to a fully cloud-managed fleet.

Key features

  • Multi-factor entry. Fingerprint, passcode, IC card, Bluetooth app unlock and mechanical key — combine any of them per door.
  • Fast fingerprint recognition. Capacitive sensor recognises a enrolled finger in under a second; stores dozens of prints per lock.
  • Time-limited passcodes. Generate temporary codes (one-time, recurring, or scheduled) for guests, cleaners or contractors — ideal for short-term rentals.
  • Offline by design. All authorisation happens on the lock, so it keeps working during a network or power outage.
  • Remote-ready. Add a gateway for real-time alerts, remote unlock and cloud history.
  • Long battery life. Months of operation on standard batteries, with low-battery alerts well before they run out.

Installation guide

  1. Check the door. Confirm the door thickness and backset match the lock's specification, and that the latch bore and cross bore are correctly drilled.
  2. Fit the latch and strike. Install the latch into the door edge and align the strike plate on the frame so the bolt engages cleanly.
  3. Mount the exterior and interior. Pass the spindle and cable through the latch, then secure the outside and inside assemblies to the door.
  4. Power up. Insert the batteries in the interior assembly. The lock will initialise and beep to confirm.
  5. Initialise in the app. Open the TTLock / Sciener app, create (or open) a lock, and follow the pairing flow to bind the lock over Bluetooth.
  6. Enrol users. Add fingerprints, passcodes and cards. Test each credential before relying on it.

Tip: Always keep at least one fingerprint or passcode enrolled as an administrator before handing the lock over, and store a mechanical key off-site as a failsafe.

Use cases

  • Homes and apartments — stop hiding keys under the mat; let family in with a fingerprint.
  • Hotels and serviced apartments — issue mobile keys and self-expiring codes; integrate with the PMS.
  • Short-term rentals — automate check-in/check-out with time-limited codes and arrival alerts.
  • Offices and coworking spaces — manage staff and visitor access on schedules, with full audit logs.

FAQ

What happens when the batteries die? The lock gives low-battery warnings for weeks in advance. If batteries do run out, you can unlock from the outside using a power bank via the emergency USB port, or use the mechanical key.

Can a guest open the door without the app? Yes. You can issue a temporary passcode remotely (via a gateway) or a physical IC card, so guests never need to install anything.

Is fingerprint data stored in the cloud? No. Fingerprints are stored encrypted on the lock itself; only a reference is synced to your account, so biometric data never leaves the device.

A smart lock is even more powerful paired with a Gateway for remote management, a Keypad for high-traffic doors, and a Door Sensor for open/close alerts.
